Why Pe$ach Co$t$ Money

You want to know why Pesach costs so much money? The answer is in the Hagaddah. I just never realized it before! You see, in my family, the spending always starts out simple. I don’t intend to buy anything new for anyone in the family, for any day of Yom Tov. But then I see these really cute pink dresses in the window of Wonderland, and… well… that’s how my expenses expand exponentially. Let me explain:

I went in to Wonderland and bought four pink dresses, to clothe my girls for Pesach.

Chad gadya, chad gadya.

Then I realized that their blue Shabbos shoes would not go well with those pink dresses. So I bought white shoes to match the pink dresses, to clothe my girls for Pesach.

Chad gadya, chad gadya.

Then I noticed the runs in their leggings, and figured I had to buy tights for all four girls. So I bought Butterfly tights, to go with the white shoes, to match the pink dresses, to clothe my girls for Pesach.

Chad gadya, chad gadya.

After looking through their closets, I realized they had no spring jackets left over from last year. The zippers were all broken. So I bought four spring jackets to complement the Butterfly tights, to go with the white shoes, to match the pink dresses, to clothe my girls for Pesach.

And of course, along with the jackets, they all needed pink berets to complete the ensemble. So I bought chic berets to top off the spring jackets, to complement the Butterfly tights, to go with the white shoes, to match the pink dresses, to clothe my girls for Pesach.

A new hat frames the face beautifully, but a new pair of earrings would really highlight their features. L’kovod Yom Tov. So I bought pearl studs to accent the chic berets, to top off the spring jackets, to complement the Butterfly tights, to go with the white shoes, to match the pink dresses, to clothe my girls for Pesach.

It goes without saying that during the sedarim, my girls would not be wearing their fancy new coordinates. After all, I spent enough money on these items that I didn’t want to get them dirty. So I bought cotton robes, to replace the pearl studs, to accent the chic berets, to top off the spring jackets, to complement the Butterfly tights, to go with the white shoes, to match the pink dresses, to clothe my girls for Pesach.

Chad gadya, chad gadya.

And what about pajamas? My kids couldn’t very well sleep in their pink outfits! So I bought striped pajamas to substitute the cotton robes, to replace the pearl studs, to accent the chic berets, to top off the spring jackets, to complement the Butterfly tights, to go with the white shoes, to match the pink dresses, to clothe my girls for Pesach.

So, in this crazy economy, with barely a penny left to my name, how was I able to pay for it all? Just look at the end of the Hagaddah!
